Water Flow for 40W? Do i really need so much?

Postby bloq » Mon Nov 02, 2015 3:35 pm

Hey!

i just installed the water hoses for my laser and i recognized that the water flow from my 50 l/m pump is very limited due to the small diameter hose which fits to the
laser tube. In fact i cannot recognize a big difference between the water flow from a 10 l/m pump which has the same diameter. What do you think? is 10 l/m enough
since the diameter for the hose is that small?

thank you!

Not sure if this is helpful, but it may be good for reference. I would think flow rate would be less important than heat dissipation from the fluid (to a point).

The CW3000 cooler (not a chiller) that I have states 10L/min. It runs around 22°C under constant use with the 40W laser. It seems to do well enough for me.

Keep in mind, the cooler has two aluminum coils with a fan to force air over it to dissipate heat. I'm just using distilled water (no coolant).

Hey Rich,
thank you very much! That sounds good to me. Until now i did not know that i need some additional cooling for the water. I had water cooling before for a 1.5 kw spindle but i gues it generates
less heat. I think some additional fans on the lid may help ...

thank you very much
