Increasing frame size

Postby vtmactech » Sat Jul 09, 2011 2:54 pm

Are there any special considerations if I want to increase the dimensions of the cutting area? I would like to build a laser with a cutting platform measuring approximately 14" x 26". I also want to add a honeycomb surface to the cutting platform that will be approximately 3" tall.

Can I simply increase the frame dimensions of the laser as well as the makerslide material (once it's available), drive belts, skins etc?

Several people have made the work area larger. Sometimes the Z belt can be difficult to get larger, but I think you could probably keep the same size since you are not going up in size too much.

The skins would need to change too.

I think an extra 6" width is enough to fit a 60 watt tube...
