Where to get air nozzle?

Postby andrewblanejr » Sat Oct 01, 2011 12:19 am

I’m having trouble tracking down an air assist nozzle. Any suggestions?

I was planning on using the optic bundle from light object (http://www.lightobject.com/40W-CO2-lase ... spx?afid=1),

I’d probably prefer to use their “pro” series since it includes the air nozzle, but it doesn’t look like it will line up with the same mounting holes on the gantry… Pro: http://www.lightobject.com/Pro-laser-he ... -P586.aspx (also available from coletech). has anyone used this set of optics/fixtures?

bart is either out of stock or unable to ship his nozzle right now due to makerslide fulfillment.

Check out the nozzle that Bart has. http://www.buildlog.net/cnc_laser/store/2x_kits_and_parts.php This is the one I use. It fits on the Light Object Bundle.

If I was forced to DIY one without tools I'd take a one or two inch long section of PVC pipe and drill three holes around the top for set screws to hold it against the mirror mount.

I'm sure there will be some kind of step down fitting you can use for the nozzle and you can drill a hole and epoxy in the tube to get the air in. Should be a few bucks at home depot but it will look ugly.

Did Bart tell you he was out? The parts and kits page says it is in stock.

You could easily 3d print one like this guy: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=256&start=20#p1372

I have a few nozzles in stock. I am only stopping new fabrication for a while. This means routing, cutting, milling, etc. If I have something already fab'ed, I have no trouble shipping it out.

I printed a nozzle with integrated autofocus. Autofocus worked great, but since I was lasering a lot of reflective material (anodized aluminum...), the plastic at the tip became burned from reflections. I need to replace the tip with an aluminum part. The main plastic body should still work fine.

I had a cool one printed as well, but later the thought of something potentially flammable with a laser and high velocity air going through it sounded like a bad idea. I pictured a blow torch and decided to scrap the idea.
