Anyone know a good online source, or does everyone just go to their local Home Depot?

Cheapest I've found is:

Haven't ordered from them. Looks like all their acrylic is ~ $5 bucks a square foot for 1/4" sheet.

Find a local place, you don't want to ship the stuff. Just check the yellow pages for plastics.

I bought a 4x8 sheet of 1/4" and got a fair pile of scraps in assorted colours and sizes very cheaply.
You may need to look around, in Calgary Industrial Paints and Plastics has a bin of scrap acrylic for a dollar a pound.

It really depends on what you want. Ordinary Arcyilic or something special. I like the selection provided by Acrylite. Some of their patterns and colors are amazing. They have an online store http://www.acrylite.net/product/acrylit ... fault.aspx

I agree. Shipping the most brittle plastic made via ups is a recipe for disaster. Local is the way to go. I buy some thicker stuff from Industrial Plastic Supply and it gets here in good shape. But thin sheet UPS takes that as a personal challenge to see if they can break the package with the 'Fragile' sticker on it. :D
If you don't need Acrylic, pick a material like Polycarbonate - it won't break.
Good luck,
