e3d hot end heater connections

Postby criznach » Sun Jul 27, 2014 5:08 pm

I just got an e3d v5 for my first 3d printer (hadron). I want the hot end to be easily removed from the carriage. I'm planning wiring and connections, and I'm wondering how close to the cartridge heater I could safely solder connectors with standard 60/40 solder? Or should I skip soldering entirely and use crimp connectors? And how long do the high-temp wires that came with the e3d need to be? I was going to use 16g silicone wire from the connectors on the carriage back to the RAMPS.
