What size water tubing?

Postby kbob » Wed Dec 19, 2012 12:14 am

What size water tubing will fit the connectors on a 40W laser tube? I've seen people here mention both 1/4 inch ID and 3/8 inch ID.

I want to build the cooling system before I buy the laser. Do different laser manufacturers use different sized barbs?

Thanks.

I used 3/8 tubing. Yellow fuel line, I think it is called "Tygon". I found it at a local hardware store, they had all kinds of different sizes. Also available on ebay. My tube came from Coletech.

I did have a hard time finding 1/4 inch for the air assist. I still cant find any that is "really flexable". I used the normal yellow tygon for it as well. My echain doesnt quite hit the acrylic cover lid. But its close.

Try to get some silicon tubing: it is more flexible and stretches more easily over the fragile glass tubes. Fix it with something like a tyrap (no metal clamps)
Use it at least for the first few centimeters. It's not very good for bending as it folds quite easily.
something like this:
