I think the motors and drivers are fine. The inductance of the motors is higher than some, but I think you will be fine. My NEMA17 motors start to get hot at 24V and 1.6Amp. At 48V you will have to lower the current a lot and possible get near the 0.50 amp min on the driver. I think you are better to use 24V power supply. You might want to add some devices in the future that run off 24V or that have a linear regulator that would be 36V max. I sometimes buy 28V power supplies that can be adjusted up to at least 30 and down close to 24V.
