Metric Conversion > BOM available?

Postby bloq » Thu Mar 12, 2015 6:31 am

Hey all,

i am pretty sure i am not the only one who wants to convert the non metric parts on his laser. Did anybody make a bom on which parts
were replaced by metric parts (and what size)? I want to make sure that i do not run into stuff i did not think about.

thanks a lot,

Hi There,

My build is all Metric, although I have not produced a BoM.

I drew the entire Buildlog 2.x laser in Sketchup and then started modifying it to suit my needs.

The main item you will have issues with is locating M6 floating PEM nuts - they seem to be as rare as rocking horse poop ;) or reassuringly expensive, so I went with M6 cage nuts instead and re-designed the associated part to use those (the part in my model for these is not accurate with regards the cage nut or the cut out in the piece of aluminium). My Blog post on making them is more accurate.
