Steps per Inch

Postby trwalters001 » Mon Dec 06, 2010 3:20 am

Hi All,

How is steps per inch calculated when toothed belts are used?

I have the recommended MXL (.080 pitch) pulleys and belt material. The pulleys have a pitch diameter of .509".

I'm looking at the FSE controller and the requirement for 1000 steps/inch.

How do I determine how I have to gear things to get the required steps/inch?

TIA,

Tim

It has to do with teeth per rev, not diameter. Look at my build instructions on the drawings page. There is an example.
