Doesn't matter on which side you swap the wires, or on the potentiometer or on the supply.. NOT both, ofcourse (then you will only swap the colors, not the levels)
If you know how a potentiometer works it will be clear to you.
In the potentiometer there is a sliding contact that runs over a carbon (or similar) track. the track is connected to the outer solderlugs with this kind of potentiometers. The slider is connected to the middle.
If you rotate the knob clockwise you rotate the slider towards one end. That end should be the higher voltage. The other end should be the lower end (or ground)
