How to test a laser tube

Postby J45on » Wed Jun 29, 2011 6:39 pm

I am sure I have read on here before about testing a new tube, but I can not find it now.
How can I go about testing the tube and PSU before installing in the machine ?
My PSU has a test button but came with no documentation :(

I hooked up the pot to the G/IN/5V terminal and AC power and that was enough to make TEST work.

To fire with Bart's kit button hook up the pot as above, then short WP to ground (pump interlock) and connect the button betweek TL and WP.

To further fire under electronic control you can then drive TH (independent of TL).

That's my current configuration and I suspect similar to Bart's interface board (except he probably actually wires WP to an interlock) but I haven't checked his schematic yet.

Look at the schematic near the top of this page

Here is a generic power supply manual that appies to most

Guys,

Sorry to post to such an old thread, but I just received the same power supply from CNColeTech and it didn't come with a manual either.
It is marked 110v and it has the same 3 terminals as above. VG, AC, AC. I am not sure how to wire up the AC side.

I am guessing it is something like:

FG - Ground
AC - Live
AC - Neutral

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

-d

If it's labelled FG/AC/AC then it doesn't matter which way you wire hot/neutral to AC.
