Re: SomaVision... 1300x1300 Plasma

Either he's building a 1300mmx1300mm plasma cutter and he's bombing us with minute details, or he's a troll/spammer.

Nice screw, a little overkill for a plasma table. Be sure to fully seal the screw in collapsible bellows or something. The smoke and slag from plasma gets everywhere and will tear screws up in no time.

The biggest thing I learned from my plasma is how fast you need to go. On materials like 18ga-16ga you need to fly or you will get dross. The ball screws will probably work, but may start to whip. You should fire them up soon to see how well they work. I have heard that some of the higher quality stepper drivers can help reduce whip because of lower vibration and resonance.

UPDATE: UPS delivered the L0 DSP CNC controller on the 20th of may.
i never received my package. im assuming now that an acquaintence
of my neighbors has 'appropriated' my controller; being that my building
requires a door code to gain access to vestibule which houses all of entry doors...

i probably need to check around the local pawn shops to see if there happens to
be an AWC 608 controller on the shelf there...

i should probably start to look around for new places to live too.

my plans and savings was not set up to contend with this type of "loss".

[heavy sigh]
