LAYZOR - DIY full K40 conversion

Hi all,

I am currently working on a conversion from the K40 to an actual useful machine. Key here is minimal investment.

I've worked on the design for a month or so, and now that the parts are coming in, I am planning to log the build here.

People have told me it looks a lot like the 2.0x (or whatever it is called ;-) ). Actually that is how I found this site. In the mean time I've looked at the cad file and I don't really think there's that much in common other than the overall look. Which is not surprising since it looks pretty generic. Anyway I just wanted to say it is a 100% new design, not really based off anything, except some google images for inspiration.

I also have a blog in which I write full articles, but I guess I'll post some more ongoing pictures here as I am building it.

There are already 3 blog posts about it, which you can find here:

Hi all,
just wanted to let you know that this project is officially finished, and I just launched a dedicated LAYZOR website.

For those that don't know, the LAYZOR is a complete rebuild of a K40, but I recommend you read the full story on my blogpost:
http://www.manmademayhem.com/?p=3440
and the website itself:

Nice build, but can i advise you to make a few small metal plates to support the screws from the hinges and gassprings? Your cover will live much longer then..
