My Shapeoko - Makerslide CNC

Hey everyone,

This has taken a while but I'm finally getting my mill put together. My nuts/bolts kit arrived about a week ago and I started building this last weekend. More blow by blow details are at my website.

Why I am building a Makerslide Mill first

Part 1 of my build log

I was going to include pics, but the forum doesn't auto-size them... so they were huge, but here is a video.

Special thanks go to Barton for creating the Makerslide extrusions and working so hard to keep up with such strong demand!

Hi Ross! Good video.

A couple of things:

1.) If your coupler isn't clamping to the motor shaft, use a small shim around the end of the motor shaft. Look through the forum for more information if needed.

2.) The M3x50mm are the correct length. In order to get the mount plate closer to the motor, you'll need to insert the 8mm threaded rod only about 1/4"-3/8" into the coupler (so it's just about the clamping bolt). Then, make sure the jam nuts are snug against the bottom of the coupler. Then, make sure the coupler isn't clamped to the motor and slide the motor shaft into the coupler and push it down until the m3x50mm bolts can reach the motor.

Otherwise, looks like you're well on your way! If you still have a problem with the bolts, let me know and I can shoot a quick video showing how I do it and post to the wiki.
