ORDbot-printed Laser cutter?

Postby Enraged » Wed Apr 18, 2012 2:19 am

Has any of the new ORDbot owners considered making a printable 2.x-style laser cutter?

Now that Makerslide and the various parts are available through Inventables (https://www.inventables.com/categories/ ... makerslide), and the ORDbots are shipping out, I was wondering if anyone else was considering this? I modeled a few parts that could be 3D printed to hold the optics, and I think the end plates could be adapted for laser cutter duty.

Thoughts?

I'd like to put together some STL files for the 2.x plastic parts kit when I get a chance, but I'd rather keep the aluminum carriage and end pieces (though I'm not sure when they'll be made available again -- perhaps through Inventables?).
