I have gone to the Detroit Maker Faire twice and the San Mateo one once. San Mateo was great, but it was missing my favorite event...Power Wheels Racing.
Souped up electric children's cars race for fame and.....well just fame I guess. It is a lot of fun to watch and really shows the maker spirit.
It is run by several local Chicago people and Pumping Station One folk. They are doing a fund raiser to cover this years races and a bunch of improvements.

My favorite moment was this guy's launch off the starting line. The trike came down and snapped the fork right off. Some of the other drivers were laughing so hard they could barely drive.
