Hi. I just thought I would introduce myself a bit. I have built a small CNC mill myself and used to work for a company that makes CNC lasers and CNC plasmas. I did some of the electrical engineering on their machines. I also wrote some of the laser training materials for this company (I prefer not to mention which, but you could probably figure it out with the info here).

I now do CNC as a hobby and I was planning on buying or building a CNC laser to equip a new maker space (hacker space) that I am co-founding in Dallas, TX (http://www.dallasmakerspace.com). Looking forward to further adventures in laser land.

I wish I had access to a Hackerspace. There is one in Chicago, but it would take an hour each way to get there.
