WANTED: Air Assist Nozzle - New or Used

Postby 3dfactory » Sat Aug 10, 2013 6:28 pm

Hey everyone. I am just about completing my laser 2.x build and the only 2 items left are the skins and the air assist nozzle. I know Bart is not making them anymore so if anyone has one laying around not being used I would gladly buy it from them. Or if someone is interested in making one that would be great too.

If not... Does anyone know of an air assist nozzle alternative that will work with this setup?

Thanks,
Mike

I am also looking for one and can say that this one will not work.

It is exactly the wrong size to work with the lightobject laser head.

If you are looking for skins I have been contemplating making some.
If there is interest I might make up a few sets.
I made a set for my build and they came out pretty good.

Yes, definitely!!!

I have been calling up so many sign shops and no one is willing to take the job. If you decide you make them you can definetly count me in for one.

Just let me know.

My email is Mike@makea3dfactory.com

Thanks,
Mike

Our build hasn't gotten underway yet, but I've been looking for a local source to have the skins fabbed to no avail. I did notice that some others have used steel panels for skins - Misumi will cut this stuff to size (leaving some post-processing necessary to finish the skins). Any idea if substituting 0.8 mm steel panels for the skins would adversely affect the rigidity of the laser cutter? I seem to recall at least one thread discussing how the skins helped keep the frame rigid enough for use.

(Sorry for hijacking the thread. I may be another customer if you end up making and selling skins.)

Oldbot had a source that could make air assist nozzles, see this thread -

Thanks Alan!

I just emailed him asking of he still makes them.

I told him you were interested too improbable.

Let us know about the skins.

I'm still looking into getting an air assist nozzle made locally. But I'd love to get a set of skins! Contact me at alanford354 [at] gmail [dot] com. Any idea how many orders would be necessary to make this happen? Possibly we should move this to a different thread so other potential buyers will find it.

Has anyone tried 3D printing an air assist nozzle? I'm planning to give it a go, but as usual have too many projects (and family) competing for my attention.
