We have all seen plenty of the green terminal blocks that are so common on our laser power supplies, some of our motor drives, and other electronics but it is not always easy to find extra blocks for our projects.
I have been searching for awhile for the specific one that fits my motor drives (2M542 from LightObject) and the laser power supply. As I build my new laser (BuildLog.net v2.x), I want some extras so I don't have to completely cannibalize my current system till the last moment. I also plan to build the new one to accept a couple of different controllers, so extras that I can just plug and unplug will be handy. But where to find the right ones.
Bart directed me to one brand and a source but there are several sizes, some deceptively close.
For the 6-pin pluggable terminal block that fits my equipment, I found the following and thought others may be interested.
Allied Electronic
http://www.alliedelec.com carries the Altech brand - Allied PN 502-0427 (pic attached) at a cost of $3.06 ea. They also carry mating horizontal and vertical headers if you are needing that for one of your own designs - H = 502-0293 @ $.91 and V = 502-0390 also @ $.91.
BE CAREFUL - there are also models with 5.00 spacing instead of the 5.08. AND there are 3.00 mm spacing mini pluggable terminal blocks. Be sure which you need for your application. But all can be found at Allied. I think they are on pages 293-296 of their online catalog.
(EDIT 3/10/2011 - I mistyped the part number for the plug - should be 502-0427 but I had a 5 in place of the 4. Now corrected.)
