Can you point me at a spec sheet?

Going back to hot-ends, here's the first of the batch of nozzles. Now that I have the process figured out and jigs made, it shouldn't take more than a couple hours to make the other ones.

Dime for scale.

Once I've verified that this design works, I plan to release the plans under an open license, but in keeping with what I did last time I developed a hot-end here, here's the print anyway. Apologies for my cluttered drawing style.

That looks awesome Jeremy.

I am sure you know this, but you might add it to the drawing. I think the quality of the surface where the nozzle meets the tube is very important. PLA will leak through the tiniest mismatch. You might add a note or surface spec.

That's a good point -- this is why I post things.

I make sure to precisely face the top surface of the nozzle and the bottom of the thermal barrier to make sure there's no gap when assembled, but a shop might not assume so. That being said, it was my experience doing light production that all lathe parts got a nice flat face on all ends, whether called for or not. But I will make a note.

FYI: There is an interesting thread going on the Delta Printer Google Group regarding an all metal hot end.

I'm finding it amusing how everyone was berating Arcol.hu 4.x design for supposedly being too sensitive and thin, and now, all of a sudden, everyone's "discovering" the exact same design as the way to go forward from ye olde PEEK designs :)

Maybe I just haven't been paying attention, but I haven't really heard many bad things about the arcol design.

Bart: that's interesting. I'd love to see drawings or a render of his actual design. I can't really see the hot-end itself in the photos he posted. Looks interesting, but if he's producing them himself he clearly doesn't value labor. Unless he has a couple cnc turning centers and a vmc.

And here it is! Now to do some testing on this one and get the rest made.

I showed it around MRRF. Hot ends were a big topic there. There were several new ones being passed around.

Everyone had their own theories on how to make the best one. Super smooth interior was suggested by most people.

Looking at this end, all I can see is quality machining. ;)
And I wish I had jumped on the funding program in time.

Has anyone had a chance to run thermal simulations for this material and design to get a sense on heat migration?
