I absolutely agree, crude or not a win is a win.

Just a follow up on activating the D9 terminal on the MOSFET so I can connect a fan to it.

In the firmware code I changed HEATER_2_PIN to HEATER_1_PIN to D9, so the code looks like this now.

#define HEATER_0_PIN 10
#define HEATER_1_PIN 8
#define HEATER_1_PIN 9 //This was HEATER_2_PIN.

assuming since HEATER_1_PIN is working on D8 this should also activate D9 if it is the same as what's mapped to D8?

#define HEATER_1_PIN 8
#define HEATER_1_PIN 9 //This was HEATER_2_PIN

It looks like you have two pins assigned as HEATER_1_PIN now. If the idea is to activate whatever is attached to both pins at the same time, it might work. I've never tried it but it sounds like a logical plan. Let us know if it works.

The only thing I can think of to watch for, though, is that the bed is heated using either a bang-bang or PID method. In both cases, I don't think the current stays on the whole time. That would affect the operation of the fan. I think PID is a smoother manipulation of the current but I'm not sure. Again, just a question I'd be curious to know the answer to. So, again, let us know how it all works.

It won't work. The C/C++ preprocessor simply doesn't work that way.

Thanks mate for the info.

So it looks like you'll need to assign the pin your using to the fan and then you can control it in your host software. I don't remember the name of the pin assignment for the fan in pins.h but it shouldn't be hard to find.

Actually, the easiest way would probably be to revert the changes you made to pins.h and then in configuration.h change your motherboard type to 33. That should configure the middle mosfet as a fan. Right?

Right.

Also, if you look at how the "motherboards" are done, you'll find it's actually quite easy to copy one, give it a new name and number, and modify it as you see fit. (Take that with a grain of salt -- I'm a programmer, so I'm bad at estimating how easy or hard things are for non-programmers. :ugeek:)

WRONG.

Maybe?

I'm back. So I plugged in a big 120mm fan into the available fan pins on the board and it works great! now the entire board is cooling off.

However, back to the "wrong" part - I plugged my additional fans into the D8 on my MOSFET and they are not spinning. I can ensure you that my Mobo is set to 33 in my configuration.h

Here's my code! I would love it if I can get my extra fans going on the MOSFET D8 terminal instead of having them run of the main power terminal!

values except thermistor tables and some other parameter likely to change during usage
like advance steps or ops mode.

increasing adc values. For more informations, read

If you have a sprinter temperature table, you have to multiply the first value with 4 and the second with 8.
This firmware works with increased precision, so the value reads go from 0 to 4095 and the temperature is
temperature*8.

If you dont feel like computing the table on your own, you can use this generic method. It is
a simple approximation which may be not as accurate as a good table computed from the reference
values in the datasheet. You can increase precision if you use a temperature/resistance for
R0/T0, which is near your operating temperature. This will reduce precision for lower temperatures,
which are not realy important. The resistors must fit the following schematic:
@code
VREF ---- R2 ---+--- Termistor ---+-- GND
                |                 |
                +------ R1 -------+
                |                 |
                +---- Capacitor --+
                |
                V measured
@endcode

If you don't have R1, set it to 0.
The capacitor is for reducing noise from long thermistor cable. If you don't have have one, it's OK.

If you don't need the generic table, uncomment the following define.

You're right, what we said was true for Marlin, not Repetier. Apparently, motherboard 33 does not have anything on pin 8 in Repetier. Try to add
#define FAN2_PIN 8
to Configuration.h.

Where do I add #define FAN2_PIN 8 in Configuration.h?
