You can get two bearing ones over at Inventables https://www.inventables.com/technologie ... ng-v-wheel but otherwise I dont know

The single bearing v wheels are used on the lens carriage. They will either be supplied as part of the kits or be replaced with dual bearing wheels. The design needs to be tweaked to account for the height difference so it may or may not be feasible.

I think the lens carriage could stand to be a little bit taller. I had to shim mine up about 2-3 mm to get the beam in the center of the hole. I assume the makerslide V rails sit a little bit lower than the old glue on style.

So, I don't know if this is of any use to anyone, but since Bart is changing things up a bit, I thought I'd try and figure out what was still needed, and what was now to be sourced externally...

All I did was go to the BOM page (http://www.buildlog.net/cnc_laser/erp/bom.html), empty the selection criteria, and start to look at the shopping list. Then I started to look at what the costs would be now that we don't get to mooch off of Bart and get just what we need. The results are at http://0x0000ff.com/laser/ - you can see what's in the new kit from Bart, what we have sources for (with links), and what I haven't yet (I haven't tried too hard) found any source for.

There's also a few things in there that I think are in addition to the original BOM (all marked with the part prefix SJG_), and a couple that can be deprecated (buy the lightObject mirror bundle and you presumably don't need individual mirrors/mounts...) There's also a running cost at the bottom, assuming you're like me and starting from scratch

If anyone has sources that I've marked as missing, I'd much appreciate a link, and I'll keep the list up-to-date. Similarly, if there's something missing, or I've screwed something up with the power of my pure blinding ignorance, I'd appreciate a pointer in the right direction I'm going to have to find all of these somehow anyway, and it'll presumably come in useful for others in future, if I can keep it current.

Here are some much better laser safety glasses, OD7+ for 10600nm and covers the other wavelengths the co2 laser emits too. http://www.certified-laser-eyewear.com/co2-laser-safety-glasses-modern/ (They also have some fit over glasses available)

There is room to take some of the cost out still. For example there are two 1000 packs of split lock washers that you can change out for 100 packs (or go to your local hardware store). Laser Saftey Industries has a cheaper pair of laser safety glasses that are completely transparent to visible light, and have better optical density to the wavelength of a CO2 laser: http://www.lasersafetyindustries.com/CO2_Laser_Safety_Glasses_p/100-50-101.htm They have quite a few types to choose from.

You also might want to consider the cost of the exhaust system, the air assist pump, and the cooling system. Getting all that setup for mine was in the $200 neighborhood.

Ebay is a good source of cheap DIN rail. Mouser has some too for ~$7
