Hi
I actually have quite a lot of experience with vinyl cutters
(i have been working with one professionally the last 5+ years).
I'll think the problem is that classic rolling-media vinyl cutters are becoming very cheap
and it will therefore be hard to get a open-source construction cheap enough to be worth it
with all the adjustment troubles you have to get a good cutter construction.
(the cheapest hobbyist models are <300$ and a really good Roland GX-24 (its like one of the best 24" cutters in existence) is 1700$)
Therefore, if we were to buy a cutter we have to aim for something to rival a GX-24 in quality if we are building a roll-fed vinyl cutter
(because the 300$ price point including everything will be very hard to beat)
If anyone wants to start designing one i can be of service with advice during construction,
but as i said, i do not know if it really is worth it!
Tough there is one thing that is not available to good prices, flatbed cutting tables like the Zund ones!
