Sorry. The VgrooveRail site opens just fine on my PC.
Apparently, I didn't build that! :-)

The makerslide website faq says:

What suppliers have compatible extrusions? - Here is a list of a few with 20mm based systems.
    Misumi
    Maytec
    Alufab
    Bosch Rexroth
    Easy Systems
    80/20 Inc

What extrusions do Misumi offer that are compatible or using the original design specs for makerslide?
My Toys
  • Printrbot Simple v2 w/mods (x2)
  • NWA SharkCNC Mako Edition w/Mods
  • ShapeOko Kit (in progress)

Thanks!

Is there a more specific part number or a treatment I have to add to the standard HFS5 series?

HFS5-2040 would be the closest equivalent to the basic shape of MakerSlide (without the Vs, of course), although it's not exactly the same (MakerSlide lacks one of the T-slots on the face with the Vs). To order a piece 1234 mm long, use part number HFS5-2040-1234.

Thanks, that answers part of my question about compatibility.

I was thought I would find makerslide rails with the v-rail at Misumi under that model. What would you use the Misumi extrusion for, if not as a linear guide rail?

Does anyone other than Inventables.com actually sell the makerslide w/vrail extrusions?

Wait a second. I'm a bit confused about what you're asking.

MakerSlide is, loosely speaking, Misumi's HFS5-2040 with two Vs added. MakerSlide is designed by Bart Dring, the owner of this site. Nobody else that I'm aware of makes a structural profile with built-in V rails, not even Misumi.

Misumi has a few bolt-on options, some of which work with the HFS5 series and give a profile similar but not identical to MakerSlide. OpenRail is another bolt-on option, which, when used with HFS5-2040, is dimensionally identical to MakerSlide, except with less clearance (which matters in some applications, but not in others). V-slot is another linear motion and structural profile combination, but it has slots, not V rails, and it's not a direct replacement for MakerSlide, because the wheel span isn't the same (so you need to modify the carriage).

MakerSlide itself is available in plentiful supply from inventables.com in the US, and also from amberspyglass.co.uk in the UK (that's me). There are a few other sources too -- for instance, as far as I know, ORD Bot kits from RepRapDiscount come with MakerSlide that's neither from Inventables nor from us, so there must be an East Asian supplier too.

[Edited to clarify who designed MakerSlide.]
