I was just mentioning it because (a) electrically it's exactly what you did, and (b) if you buy a new PCB bed, for the same money, you can get a dual-voltage one. I know the information isn't useful to you -- you've already modded yours.

I mounted on my ord bots the RUMBA board :D works for 12-36v, no problem, and i developed some very nice drivers, hope to be ready to release them next week, i can guarantee you, that you will be excited :P

While not noticeable in what most people print (or seem to print), which is structural parts, the difference is there.

You get slight artifacts in print, but more importantly, it seems to exacerbate the "echoes" due to vibration (but only those caused by the steppers acting as a spring in the oscillatory system). Also, it makes the extruder flow more irregular (noticeable as unevenness along Z axis).

Now, obviously, if all you're going for is speed, none of this matters anyway :)

@orcinus: My first reaction on reading your post was to call bullsh*t, but after testing it myself, I must humbly agree with you. The two photos below were taken using 12V and 24V at 1/16th microstepping from the exact same gcode file. This is on an ATI Ord with Rumba electronics, EZStruder, J-Head hotend and Panucatt DRV8825 drivers. I haven't tried messing with the decay modes yet, but if I ever go to 1/32 microstepping, I might try this hack: http://reprap.harleystudio.co.za/?p=321.

@regressedEE and cvoinescu

i noticed you runnung bots with 24v, do you want to try and review my new drivers, so that other members also can read. I have the drivers ready sofar, i am waiting for the cooler, as soon the cooler are ready i can ship out the things

The drivers support up to 1/128 but arduino hardware won't make it, so you can try with 1/16, 1/32 and 1/64

@cvoinescu
which board are you using? does your board has drivers on board?

I built my own RAMPS-like thing on perf board, with sockets for Pololu-type drivers; I also have two or three GAUPS, and one of your RUMBAs from the Kickstarter. I haven't had a chance to use the RUMBA yet...

i did not make the drivers for rumba only, they can fit on ramps or all other electronics with sockets for polou drivers.

I know. The GAUPS and my RAMPS-like setup both take Pololu-like drivers, so should work with your drivers too.

Tried it. Helps somewhat, but doesn't fix the issue.
Lowering the voltage is the only thing that does :)

It's the way current-chopping drivers work, there's no way around it.
