Magic Smoke

Postby edmond22 » Fri Jun 15, 2012 8:22 pm

Hi

I have a major problem on my machine, I moved it recently and just finished connecting everything up today and went to test fire it, suddenly I smelt a burning smell and saw smoke coming from the power adjustment knob.
The laser tube PSU seems dead after this happened, its fan still runs but the TL and WP leds don't come on anymore, any suggestions pls

Have you opened it up and looked inside, it may just be a blown fuse or easy to replace component on the low voltage side .

It's solved now, it turned out the connections from the laser PSU to the tube has come loose so I redid them and its all sorted now. I retied them using Barts method.

Find it interesting that caused your power pot to smoke, have to remember that.
