Extra automation electronics

Postby Techgraphix » Sat Jun 16, 2012 6:43 pm

After reading a topic about using the U-axis instead of the Z-axis by Tim Wehr, i thought this must be automated as the controller provides a signal when file is processed (/blow)
Also, for my rotational unit, i wanted to switch while the machine is on.
What does this PCB do:
- You can still manually move the Z-axis
- Auto focus can be used like normal
- Z-axis steps during the job as programmed (U-axis)
- Y-axis can do the normal reset procedure (reset or power-on)
- Switching Y to Rotational while machine is on.
- Y-axis is hold fixed when using the rotational unit
- /Blow signal is buffered and can be inverted.

If interested, i can make drawings of the circuit and PCB...

Kees, Great job on this circuit!!
I am surprised nobody else has commented on this. It appears to be a well thought out and useful design.
Do you have g-code for the circuit board?
Thanks for the contribution to the forum!

I think a G-Code file is not very usefull as this depents on what mill you use.. I used a 1/32 endmill for the holes and a V30 with a 0.4mm nose for the tracks.
So i included a DXF-file. Now you can import that in your CAD program and select your own mills to generate the toolpaths.. or adapt some holes to the connectors you can obtain..
I used the same as in the controller..

Oh, i forgot to mention you can also pull the plug from the rotational unit while the machine is still on. The switch has to be in "Y-axis" in that case..
