The basic eshapeoko kit seems to be of comparable cost to the shapeoko kit.
But it ships from UK, so if you are in Europe maybe it saves you some money (I don't really know).
The $225 shapeoko kit does not include everything you need, but they have a $600 kit that does.
If you are on a tight budget you can beat the $600 by sourcing the additional parts yourself.
I think you need a power supply, dremel tool, endmills, 3 steppers, and a stepper controller.
You could get this stuff for $250 or maybe less if you are real careful. So a total of $475.
But you are not done once the machine is going. You will find all sorts of places to spend money on materials or upgrades.
